Golden Retrievers and their humans are getting ready to take over Pretoria as the 2nd Annual Gauteng Golden Retriever Gathering returns on Saturday, 10 October 2026.
Also known as Golden Retriever Day, the event will take place from 10:00 to 13:00 at Moreleta Kerk in Pretoria, bringing Goldies and their owners together for three hours of activities, competitions and fundraising.
The gathering is being held in support of Golden Retriever Rescue South Africa (GRRSA), with proceeds helping the organisation’s rescue efforts.

Splash pools and agility for the Goldies
The dogs will have plenty to keep them occupied during the gathering.
Golden Retrievers can cool down in splash pools or put their skills to the test on a dedicated dog agility course.
There will also be games, a raffle and a best-dressed Golden Retriever competition, giving owners the chance to dress up their Goldies for the occasion.
Prizes are up for grabs, including a getaway stay from Salt Rock Sands.
Treats, accessories and advice for dog owners
Pet-focused vendors will be at the gathering with interactive stalls offering everything from gourmet dog treats and accessories to professional behavioural tips.
Humans haven’t been forgotten either.
Food and drinks, or “hooman food”, will be available to buy at the venue.

The gathering isn’t only about giving Gauteng’s Goldies a chance to socialise.
The event supports Golden Retriever Rescue South Africa, and visitors can contribute further by donating items needed for dogs in its care.
Donations of blankets, pet food and toys are welcome at the gathering.
