Every pet has a personality that’s larger than life, from mischievous puppies and adventurous kittens to gentle giants who think they’re lap dogs. This month, we’re introducing five lovable companions who keep their humans entertained with their quirky habits, favourite treats and unforgettable antics.
Meet Bentley, Nimbus, Biscuit, Victoria and Beatrice, our latest Pet Pals who prove that life is always better with a furry friend by your side.
Bentley
Breed: Jack Russell
Age: 2 months
Sex: Male
Hooman: Roxanne Jones
Bentley Sean Jones is a 10-week-old bundle of curiosity and cuteness. His favourite treat is Milko-Pup, as his tiny teeth are still too small for larger treats.
Like most puppies, Bentley is in his teething stage, which means just about everything becomes a chew toy. Hands, shoelaces and furniture are all fair game, although his actual toys are often ignored.
When he is not exploring every corner of the house, he can usually be found racing around with the zoomies or squeezing himself into the newest hiding spot he has discovered.
Nimbus
Breed: Mixed
Age: 5 months
Sex: Female
Hooman: Gadija Sydow-Noordien
Nimbus got her name from the grey Cumulus Nimbus cloud, perfectly matching her soft grey coat.
She loves fluffy toys and prefers soft Pampers Kitten cat food.
Her ideal day starts with breakfast and a trip to the litter box, followed by around 30 minutes of play before curling up under a blanket for another nap. She especially enjoys sleeping close to her owner.
Biscuit
Breed: Unknown
Age: 5 years
Sex: Male
Hooman: PJ Smith
Bobtail biscuits are Biscuit’s weakness.
He also loves carrying around soft toys, but his greatest talent is opening doors. If someone tries to keep him out of a room, he simply stands on his hind legs, reaches for the handle and lets himself in.
Closed doors are merely suggestions in Biscuit’s world.
Victoria
Breed: Boerboel
Age: 2 years
Sex: Female
Hooman: Kim Kay
Victoria weighs 65kg, but she is convinced she is the perfect lap dog.
She launches herself onto anyone willing to sit still, completely unaware that she weighs more than many first-time gym-goers. Personal space simply does not exist in Victoria’s world.
She enjoys sprinting around the garden for no apparent reason, soaking up the sun as though she owns the place and sampling just about anything left within reach.
Confident, affectionate and endlessly entertaining, Victoria lives life believing she is pocket-sized.
Beatrice
Breed: Cat
Age: 6 years
Sex: Female
Hooman: Wayne Christians
Beatrice is a tuxedo queen with very clear rules.
She absolutely adores her dad, following him around the house and making sure he always has her full attention. Her mum, however, is largely ignored and treated more like part of the furniture.
Most days are spent sleeping, sunbathing, exploring the house and teasing her canine siblings.
The only thing capable of interrupting her royal routine is the sound of a wet food pouch opening. The moment she hears it, she sprints to her bowl with remarkable speed.
As for cuddles, Beatrice has her own policy.
She doesn’t do cuddles. She simply allows access.
